What is Rhinoplasty?

The medical name for rhinoplasty is “rhinoplasty”.  It is made to give the nose a more beautiful and beautiful look.  Rhinoplasty should be successful from an aesthetic as well as a functional point of view.  During rhinoplasty, it is preferable to use different surgical techniques depending on the content of the cosmetic problem in the nose, the characteristics of the nasal tissues, the patient's expectations from the surgery, and the presence of diseases such as sinusitis, nasal curvatures or growths of flesh inside the nose.  Planned intervention in the same surgery.  The operations are usually performed under general anesthesia and take 2-3 hours depending on the procedure to be performed.  Surgeries can be performed in two different ways.  these;  Open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.

Before and After Rhinoplasty

Before the operation, request the examinations exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Surgery will be decided based on the test result.

  • Stop using medications with blood-thinning effects (aspirin, modal, etc.) at least a week before. Alcohol, cigarettes, etc. If you consume it, you must stop it before surgery because these substances put you at risk during surgery and prolong the recovery process after surgery,
  • Because Blood circulation is impaired. If you suspect pregnancy, a test should be done and if the result is positive, the surgery will be postponed.
  • You must stop eating 12 hours before surgery.
  • You can take a shower before coming for the operation, but do not wear makeup.
  • A silicone swab or mold will be placed on your nose to prevent bleeding after the operation.
  • You must come and remove the tampons on the date indicated by your doctor.
  • It is normal to have a pink discharge after the operation. If the secretions are red and dripping, this indicates bleeding. Please consult your doctor.
  • Avoid food very hot drink, strenuous exercise, blowing, bending over, hot bath and steaming until tampon is removed.
  • Do not use drugs.
  • Be sure to sleep on a high pillow. 
  • After removing the tampon, there will be scabs where the nose sores heal. Blow your nose as recommended by your doctor. Do not blow your nose until the incisions have healed (about 2-3 weeks).
  • Don't put off your check-ups when your doctor tells you to.
