What is an Implant?
An implant is a titanium-made screw-like device used in the treatment of missing teeth, which is placed into the jawbone. On top of these screws, dental prostheses are attached. One of the main advantages of implant treatment over other methods is that it does not damage the adjacent teeth. In other words, there is no need to cut neighboring teeth. Implants act as dental roots and allow you to eat, speak, and smile comfortably, just like natural teeth. Dental implant surgery involves replacing tooth roots with metal, screw-like posts, and placing artificial teeth that look and function like real teeth in their place. Dental implants can offer a pleasing alternative to ill-fitting dentures or bridges and, as a result, are often preferred over traditional methods like bridges.
How is Implant Treatment Performed?
Implant treatment is carried out with the patient under mild sedation. Prior to the procedure, a detailed examination and X-rays are necessary. Measurements of the jawbone and remaining teeth are taken. There are two options for placing dental implants. In the one-stage procedure, after the implant is placed, a temporary abutment is attached. In the two-stage procedure, the dental implant is installed and covered with gum tissue, then left to heal. Prosthetic abutments are later attached. In both cases, a temporary bridge is placed, and a healing period of 3 months for the lower jaw and 6 months for the upper jaw is allowed. Sometimes new teeth can be immediately attached to the dental implants. With dental implants, the patient can smile and eat confidently.
Zirconium implants are a new generation of implants made to enhance the strength of titanium implants. They are particularly used to increase durability in narrow jawbones. Other than the improved strength, there is no difference from titanium implants.
Zirconium is utilized in dental crowns as well. Its natural tooth-like whiteness and light-reflecting properties make it not only durable but also aesthetically appealing. Unlike some materials, it does not cause wear or leave a metallic taste in the mouth. Moreover, it maintains its color over time and is considered safe for use in the body.
Implant Prices:
It is not possible to provide a precise price for dental implant treatment, as the cost varies depending on factors such as the brand of implants used, the individual's dental structure, and the number of missing teeth. While different implant brands serve the same function in terms of oral and dental health, the prices may differ due to variations in raw materials, longevity, and many brands being imported from abroad.
