Gum Recession and Treatment
Gum Recession and Treatment:
Gum recession refers to the process where the gum tissue recedes and exposes the root of the tooth beneath the enamel layer. It can be caused by various factors, including genetics, dental calculus, poor restorations, and aggressive tooth brushing. The symptoms of gum recession include bad breath, bleeding while brushing, swelling, and redness of the gums. Gum recession can also lead to tooth loss.
The treatment for gum recession involves various filling techniques. The tooth can be fully covered, or in more advanced cases, surgical methods may be necessary. In surgical procedures, healthy tissue from the surrounding area is shifted to cover the exposed area, or a graft taken from the palate is surgically attached to the recessed area.
